Polities and Societies (ISSN XXXX-XXXX) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing theory-driven, empirically grounded, and critically oriented scholarship in the contemporary social sciences, including political science, international relations, political economy, sociology, and area studies.

The journal provides a platform for research that helps scholars, practitioners, and policy actors make sense of contemporary political, institutional, and societal challenges across diverse contexts.

We publish contributions that are empirically grounded and theoretically informed, offering insights into how political and social issues unfold across different social, cultural, institutional, and historical settings. The journal places particular emphasis on work that speaks beyond a single context and contributes to broader conversations in political science, international relations, and the social sciences.

The journal welcomes submissions from around the world and is especially receptive to research on Central Asia, Eurasia, Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, Africa, and South Asia, provided it engages with questions of wider relevance. Cross-regional comparisons are especially welcome.
